Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) can impact a child’s health and well-being during childhood and into adulthood. The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) is committed to partnering with the community to address ACEs.
Our Mission
Our Vision
Cultivate successful, healing connections that empower children and their families to achieve health and wellbeing.
Improve the health and wellbeing of Los Angeles County’s adults, children, and families through creative connections that inspire resilience.
How Can We Help You?
By screening for ACEs, we can better determine the likelihood a patient is at increased health risk due to a toxic stress response. DHS offers and utilizes many patient-centered screenings to improve healthcare delivery.
Screening for ACEs helps inform patient treatment and encourage the use of trauma-informed care. DHS connects families to resources to address ACEs, Social and Behavioral Determinants of Health, and Toxic Stress in innovative ways.
Building relationships that strengthen child, adult, and family resilience to achieve individual and community health is our ultimate goal.
