    • Public health program managed by Optometry Cares. Services provided regardless of family income or insurance coverage. Targets newborn babies and infants under 12 months. The AOA Foundation coordinates free eye exams and testing, and optometrists volunteer their time. If the infant needs more specialized care or surgery, they will arrange it.
  • Vision To Learn: 1-800-485-9196 or email mail@visiontolearn.org
    • Works with optometrists and retailers to provide eye care and free glasses to kids in low-income families. Mobile vans visit schools and other sites throughout CA.
  • New Eyes for the Needy
    • Free prescription glasses – apply through the website above.
  • EyeCare America (part of American Academy of Ophthalmology)
    • Free eye exams and on-going vision care for low-income families who are uninsured or whose medical plans don’t cover vision.
  • Sight for Students: 1-888-290-4964
    • Works with participating eye doctors in your area to provide services for low income and uninsured children whose vision care is not covered by state or private insurance.
  • Vouchers for Glasses through The Lions Club One-Sight Program
    • The family must partner with a non-profit (school or church, local Lion’s Club, Red Cross, United Way are some examples). The non-profit would follow the steps in the link above. The child would need to have had an eye exam and be able to submit their prescription.

    • Partners with multiple community organizations to provide parenting resources, education on early childhood and parenting, housing resources (shelter, transitional and permanent supportive), support for transportation, food, phones, legal services, help with taxes, reproductive health resources, links to Planned Parenthood and WIC, referrals to doctors, dentists, vision, substance abuse, mental health counseling, advocacy for medi-cal eligibility, academic counseling, free books/laptops, financial aid grants and scholarships career opportunities for transitional age youth, links for youth to employers. Tutoring and test prep for K-12, advocacy, college prep.

    • Los Angeles Center: 741 North Vermont Avenue Los Angeles, CA
    • Child development program for children ages 0-6 and youth program for ages 7019. Offers range of services to children and adults who are blind or visually impaired in Southern California and library of braille books for free.
